I give the japanese credit for not buying a console with questionable reliability even after the 360 got a bunch of JRPG's |
That's the thing though, I knew tons of people whose PlayStations and PS2s broke too (usually out of warranty, which Sony never extended despite various class action lawsuits), and they'd just buy another. If you've invested in a platform with a ton of games/saves (and in this gen you can add DLC to that list too), you're probably going to stick with that platform. I think it's less a "pride" issue, even if RROD is a greater issue than DVD DRE failure or fried MPEG cards.
