Forums - Microsoft Discussion - My two cents about Final Fantasy XIII(X360) NO SPOILERS!!

Does it still ask you to change discs during play even if you install them all?

You are in the same situation that I'm in. I love achievements over trophies, but can't decide which version to get. Let me know what you think of the comparisons. I'm going to check them out now.

My biggest fear of buying the 360 version over the PS3 version is that the cinematics aren't going to look as sharp. I prefer Achievements to Trophies, so I'm still sorta leaning towards the 360 version. Is there a noticeable degrade in the cinematics? I know that you said I won't care but.....I still do. Your opinion, please?

If you have a decent HD TV the cinematics are going to look a fair bit better in motion, no doubt about it.  They are pretty compressed from the PS3 ones and may even, according to some sites, have occasional 'artificats' as a result in highly kinetic scenes.

My view would be that unless you really want the Achievements, given this is SP only if you have both consoles and like FF (which means liking the cinematics, etc) then this is a clear PS3 choice.

The 360 cinematics should look pretty darn decent, but clearly if you want to know you're looking at the best representation then you're going to want the PS3 version.  The actual game should only look a fraction less sharp from what I've read and seen - but the cinematics is where the compression hit the hardest.

That one statement has helped me decide.  Achievements are just a number.  The experience is what matters most and I want the best experience possible.  Thanks!  Your really are REASONABLE!

Your right on that one! I should be looking at the experience and not the achievements. I'm still gonna shoot for the platinum trophy!

Actually, the cinematics look pretty shitty some times, and often pixelated.

Also, I noticed that here and there, the sound is also compressed.

I saw some cinematics of the PS3 of a review copy and they are (quality wise) breathtaking.

On the other hand, apart from some aliasing issues, the gameplay graphics are really beautiful on 360, and the 360 controller is a buying factor for me. DS make my thumbs hurt.

Ok peabreak! So far the game is fucking amazing, if you are like me that refuses to take healing items and tries to be skilled well your out of luck with FFXIII even some of the starting monsters are strong:<. I am in chapter 3 now so far no FPS drops and that crystal leveling system is pro.

as for the people that care

Unless you're going to have the PS3 version up and running next to it you probably wouldn't notice any downgrading in quality. Sure it would be nice to have it at it's best but it's not unplayable or a strain on the eyes.

The intresting this is that so far Metacritic reviews the Xbox 360 version scores best -

Xbox 360 scores 83 -

PS3 scores 82

Seems the hype wagon has rolled this one to far, personally I own both consoles and after reading the reviews I will wait until it goes budget before I even consider it and even then it looks like a "Try before you buy" type game..

And clearly one version has 16 reviews whereas the other has 33 so... Your comparison is unfair and irrelevent.

If you have the option of both then the obvious choice is the PS3. If you only had the 360 to not get it because the quality of the video is better on another machine isn't in my eyes a good enough reason.
