Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'm thinking about getting a Wii today, but I'm not 100% sure

I've been thinking for a while now about getting a Wii, but I'm not sure if its worth the $200. There's a few games I really want to get it for, mainly Little King's Story, Klonoa, Muramasa, MadWorld, and a few others.

Can anyone tell me why it'd be ok to purchase a Wii now and not have it be a waste of money and time? I know the systems 4 years old, and that sorta worries me. I'd also like to know if there's any games to look forward to, and some games that most people don't know about that I might be interested in.

For the record, I bought a Wii at launch back in 2006 and sold it in 2008. So yeah, its been a while. =(

It all depends on what games do you like? If you like mario, metroid, zelda, monster hunter, red steel, no more heroes, tatsonuko vs capcom.... you get the idea.

Just look at the games it has, the games that are coming and decide for yourself.

I think is really worth it.

I enjoy my Wii but its really up to you to decide if YOU would enjoy the Wii. $200 is a lot of money. Plus, it's your money. We can recommend, but in the end, you're the one who's going to be out $200 and you're the one who will be playing with the system. Not us.

It's kinda hard to look at the Wii's catologue sometimes. But I'm open to almost any genre. I was thinking about getting No More Heroes and New Super Mario Bros Wii too.

Its just that Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy are still $50 and I just don't get Nintendo's logic of not lowering their prices after so many years.

Because they are selling good I guess.

It's not hard, just go to wii games xp no, seriously, the wii has a lot of great games.

Well for one thing it's only $200 now which, at least to me, nearly borders on the verge of impulse buy.

Also, despite some dry periods here and there, overall it has built up a strong library of games over the years: Zelda TP, NSMB Wii, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mario Galaxy, SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, Little King's Story, Zack and Wiki, House of the Dead: Overkill, RE4, Strikers, etc. Plus you got all the Wiiware and classic VC awesomeness. Some of these games, mainly the 1st party ones are still full price or close to it, but many of the good 3rd party games I listed are going for pretty cheap nowadays, some even at low as $15-$20.

And it looks to only get better in the near future with stuff like Monster Hunter 3, Fragile, Galaxy 2, Sin and Punishment 2, Xenoblade, Epic Mickey, and Tales of Graces coming.

Its not because they're selling good. Nintendo games always retail for full price no matter what. Every other game that sells good on the Wii goes down in price eventually (that isn't a Nintendo title). Its just silly, but whatever.

Nintendo games are just very polished and continues to sell with great legs. They don't need to hit the bargain bin.

You can buy it day 1 and knowing your purchase won't lose value years later.

It's not silly. It's good business sense by Nintendo. There are no Wii third party games that have been on the market for years selling like Mario Kart Wii, Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, WiiPlay.  Wii and DS games stay at full price for so long because people are willing to buy them at full price. It's as simple as that.

SUPER SMASH BROS BRAWL!!!!! Must get, you will be addicted to that series. It's the best fighter thus far! Plus Monster Hunter Tri and Metroid other M plus SMG2, and maybe even Zelda Wii. Come on its a MUST get.
