Consoles just lost casual gamers. At least so far. People tend to forget Eyetoy, Singstar and Kinect for example. Attach rate has grown over the generations as well, AFAIK. People don't need handhelds or consoles for casual gaming anymore, though there still are casual gamers on consoles, but way less than there where in the good old days. Depends on the game and possibly genre. I like both, though i think first person often works better with a less developed character, more simple avatar. What i really dislike though is the over the shoulder third person far to many games have copied over the last 14 years. To me this is lacking the immersion of first person as well as the 'overview' of the classic third person view. ...
Neither Metroid Prime nor Fallout 3 are FPS. Fallout 3 is an RPG. You can play it without guns and even try playing totally peaceful (pretty tough though). Or you can use VATS which makes it more or less turn based like. Metroid Prime is a 3D Action Adventure, more precisely a 3D Metroidvania. ...
