Fallout 3 is the new Zelda - Opinion Piece

in Gaming Discussion on 13 January 2009

Mise said: alpha_dk said: So, if the Zelda designers want to keep an overarching narrative going, they need to enforce artificial barriers to going places the story is not ready for yet. Fallout 3, through its game design, can enforce this through overpowered enemies. Zelda cannot, without losing its innate Zelda-like combat. Overpowered enemies? In Fallout 3? Unless you...

Fallout 3 is the new Zelda - Opinion Piece

in Gaming Discussion on 13 January 2009

The problem I have with this argument is, taking away the items, a good player can beat Zelda:OoT with 3 hearts. I haven't tried a TP 3-heart run personally, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least to know it's possible. The combat would not be a limiting factor. Contrast that to fallout 3, where enemies can 1-hit kill you if you encounter them too early and there's no way to dodge it short...

Flash poll: What will happen to Sony/SCE in the financial trouble?

in Sony Discussion on 12 January 2009

That's what I'm talking about. You don't think that's unrelated, do you? They're merging, which means that duplicate positions can be axed. Think PR, marketing, etc. Assets can be shared, etc. It's a minor type of cutting studios, but they went from 2 studios to 1, so.......

in Nintendo Discussion on 11 January 2009

It's not San Fran's Chinatown, New York's Chinatown, Chicago's Chinatown ... it could be LA's chinatown potentially. It's hard to tell from that picture, but I'm leaning towards no. Not to say it's not a Chinatown, but it's not any of the big ones. ...

We never claimed they were anything other than shipped numbers, I don't see how anything is 'fishy' about that. Thank you for the source for consumer sells, gavind... do you know what their source is? I've been looking for straight-up to-consumer data for a while (not very hard, mind you) and I'd like to know where these to-consumers numbers came from. Most (all) of the data I can find is...

SONY: We Announced Home Too Early

in Sony Discussion on 09 January 2009

Grooski said: Kotaku, and Brian Crecente in particular, outed Home a week before GDC 07, even after Sony contacted them and explicitly asked them not to. Sony was pissed and blackballed Kotaku from then.
