At least they haven't recently. Historically this is how they've announced consoles. But I wonder if a more effective way to release and...

Nintendo Fans, despite the E3 dissapointment, what THREE games did you enjoy seeing the most?

in Nintendo Discussion on 18 June 2015

Fire Emblem Fates SMT x Fire Emblem Yoshi Woolly World Basically the games the I got most excited about were the ones we already knew about; hence the disappointed. Star Fox was the real disappointment though: what they showed looks super easy and lame. I think I saw a max of 5 enemies on screen at once. Bullshit. I want Platinum levels of crazy. It's almost as though they wanted to...

Do you actually use your amiibos?

in Nintendo Discussion on 07 June 2015

Just thought, I may get Mario Party 10 in the somewhat near future as my friend is moving in down the street with her 5 year old daughter. Reckon MP10 would be good to have for when I'm inevitably expected to baby sit....

Do you actually use your amiibos?

in Nintendo Discussion on 07 June 2015

mine are mostly on display, although I do get them down every so often to play with them, Splatoon ones are obviously most in use at the moment, although i've got the various unlocks in mk8 etc, and every so often I'll have a bit of a sesh on amiibo tap or get some Smash going....

Xenoblade Chronicles X Vs Fallout 4 (POLL)

in Gaming Discussion on 05 June 2015

In Xenoblade's favour: -Fallout 4 will be a broken, nigh unplayable mess for at least 9 months -Graphics look great and really push the Wii U -Does something new In Fallout's favour: -I don't like JRPGs -Xenoblade on Wii bored me -I tend to get the smooth playthrough and my girlfriend gets the gamebreakers Verdict: Fallout 4. I didn't rate Xenoblade on the Wii at all, and Fallout 3...

Does Splatoon feel very 90s to anyone else? (In a good way)

in Nintendo Discussion on 04 June 2015

tripenfall said:The 80's and to a lesser extent the 90's were all about excess. Loud colour and style and yes Splatoon does give me that vibe.... I wasn't sure I'd enjoy the game but after getting to level 6 I have to say it's a lot of fun. I'm hoping that the ranked battles give the game some extra life.... Oh my god, the ranked battles are goddamn BRUTAL. Awesome fun....

    Splatoon DLC Incoming Today!!!

in Nintendo Discussion on 02 June 2015

Ignoring the argument for one second; how fun is ranked mode? Only played a couple of games on it (all poorly and shit) but it's proper good. The new level is pretty fun as well, especially as it's absolute murder on the rollers. Hehehe. And, getting back to the argument, I don't think it would have worked if it was open at the start; it definitely needs emergent tactics which didn't exist 4...

    Splatoon DLC Incoming Today!!!

in Nintendo Discussion on 02 June 2015

well, looks like my timing predictions were way off. and whilst i think that 5 maps was too mean to launch with (7/8 would have been much better IMO), it's clear that I was right about Nintendo's strategy. essentially, witholding content allows them to: 1) manage the player base; having all modes available at launch would split the number of people wanting to play each mode at any one time -...

    Splatoon Update Speculation

in Nintendo Discussion on 31 May 2015

Seeing as my girlfriend is currently hogging Splatoon I figured I'd hit you all with a bit of a theory of mine regarding the free updates that are coming for Splatoon. Firstly; I don't agree with the consensus that Nintendo was desperate to get Splatoon out in time for the Summer, and wasn't able to get the feature set complete; it just doesn't feel like an incomplete game to me. No, what I...

    Splatoon Map Rotation

in Nintendo Discussion on 31 May 2015

I actually quite like the map rotation, I think it's a good way of making sure that people keep logging in and keeping the servers active. That said, if I'm right about them switching to a 3 map rotation when more maps are out then I'll be happier, 2 is a little bit too easy to tire of....

    Splatoon Map Rotation

in Nintendo Discussion on 30 May 2015

Anyone else noticed that in Turf War there's space for 3 maps where there's only currently two? IE. where it shows you which maps are currently in action, there's space in the GUI for a third. I reckon that when they've got a few more of the extra maps out they're going to switch it so there's 3 maps available at a time. Thoughts?...

    Best cover based game mechanic?

in Gaming Discussion on 24 May 2015

t3mporary_126 said: Does Splatoon's squid form count as a cover mechanic? It's does let you hide on the wall but you need to slightly wriggle upwards or else you slide down to the floor. The squid form also lets you refill ink, travel faster, jump farther, and ambush your opponents while you hide underneath your ink. This is what I was thinking when I saw OP. I think Splatoon's...

in Nintendo Discussion on 24 May 2015

I'd say it should be Metroid; getting a Zelda film right, that doesn't harm the IP would be near impossible (and there's the rumoured TV show), and a Mario film would be similarly difficult to get right.
