I can't decide if it's a good or a bad thing. So I'll go with both. There are positive and negative valid arguments in favor and against this decision.
Reminds me of that thing last gen when Microsoft went for backwards compatibility and Sony with remakes/remasters. Both having pros and cons in my opinion.
