I think the reason they haven't just gone with the "Switch Fit"/Wii Fit ++ branding approach is cos they want to emphasize the "adventure" aspect in an attempt to appeal more to those who didn't consider Wii Fit enough of a "real game", or to avoid tying themselves to something deemed passe. 

Since Splatoon's breakout success they also seemed to have gained more confidence in pushing for fresh new IPs instead of feeling like they have to tie everything to an already popular brand.
