In terms of Pokemon, one of the challenges right now is that we don't know how much of an impact the digital vouchers are having on these games. The vast gulf between physical sales and overall shipments for SMM2 suggests that it is significant. Odds are high that Fire Emblem is also being dramatically impacted. Between that and the ever increasing unreliability of COMGNet as a proxy for the Japanese market as a whole, it is just about impossible to draw any huge conclusions here. As it is, SwSh is tracking well ahead of LGPE.

Hmm, interesting point. Nintendo has always lagged behind the rest of the market in digital-physical ratio, but perhaps things are finally gaining some momentum there? The Switch has much better storage capabilities than any previous Nintendo system after all.

While there is a gap between LGPE and SwSh, it is shrinking, when it should in fact be growing. Regardless of arguments about ratios, store closures, digital sales, etc., the trajectory of the SwSh points relative to the trajectory of LGPE is perhaps the most worrisome, hard evidence that momentum has stalled for SwSh.

The digital vouchers are worth a bit more in Japan, making them much more worthwhile than in the west. The real difference between SwoSh and PLG is probably at least 2:1 sales with the digital preorders included due to this.
