I've completed the main campaign of DQVIII yesterday, what an absolutely incredible game - the soundtrack and world building are something else. I haven't been that invested in a game's story since I played DQV for the first time early last year. It's made me want remasters of all the older DQs on the Switch even more now.

As far as it's ranking in the series (that I've played) so far, I'd say it goes:

5 > 8 = 11 > 1 > 4 > 3 > 6 > 2. Still need to play 7 and 9, and from what I can see DQXIS is going to push up and maybe challenge 5 for my top spot as favourite.

Also moved FFX-2 from the backburner to straight up quit. I sold the cart so I won't be finishing it. I enjoy humorous games, but the poppy anime vibe really doesn't work for me at all. I wanted to see the conclusion of Yuna's story, but I'll just watch the cutscenes on Youtube.

Edit 2:
Now finished DQ Heroes 1, really enjoyable, the character design and music was excellent. Levels are perfectly paced to fit the handheld Switch, there's a heap of side content that I'll likely never get to due to time constraints, but I absolutely enjoyed my 25 hour runthrough. New Game+ too.

Edit 3:
Fire Emblem's out now so all my attention will go to that, it released at midnight last night and I'm already 5 hours in. Absolutely fantastic so far.
