Console like wars are becoming a common thing now in the PC space. Loyalty to a launcher.

And then there's the upcoming GOG Galaxy 2.0

One Launcher to rule them all.

Weird though: launchers are free aren't they?

The Launchers are free. But they don't share functions and have different sets of features, and privacy settings.

EGS is very bare bones in both functions and features compared to it's competitors. Add to that that Epic is half part of TenCent and had several data leaks already (which also showed that they collect all your data like a kraken - and potentially sending them to China due to TenCent), and I hope you can understand why many don't like the store. They really only have things going for them:

1. Exclusives due to massive moneyhatting of their Fortnite money

2. Cheaper for north American gamers (the rest of the world pays the same price as on Steam/GOG/whatever) due to their 12% take instead of 30%.
