Best franchise that couldn't save the company from being bought out, and before MK9, the last good MK game was... UMK3, and MK9 had to throw out 3D fighting because developers couldn't get it to be as good as Soul Calibur or Tekken.  And it took until MK11 for the females to look like... females.

Anyway  Shao Kahn would be about what? 6 dollars, tops? Not a big deal if you don't pre-order?  Seeing as how it looks like Shao Kahn has a spot on the base roster, you will miss out if you don't pre-order, but it's not a big deal, IMO.

Nah, Deception and Deadly Alliance were good games. They just weren't excellent games.

Having 6 different types of coins, ruby, sapphire, gold, jade, etc, and needing specific types of coins to unlock Drahmin and Hsu Hao.  Game is home to the worst fatalities, and worst characters in the entire franchise.  And that's not even mentioning how stiff the games were.  But, I'm not going to bother trying to draw some line where good and excellent games are supposed to be.  Every mainline fighting game franchise around back then, was better than MK.  VF4, Tekken 4 & 5, Soul Calibur 2, & 3, all of them better than MK:DA, & MK:D.  Mavado wasn't cool then, and he isn't cool today.  Neither is Kobra.

If the games weren't total failures, MK wouldn't have to move back to 2D.  Let's also not pretend like Street Fighter IV had nothing to do with that decision.  Proving that people would still buy 2D fighters.

The game isn't trash today.  Things turned around with MK9, but let's not try to act like the entire franchise was this great thing.  With that said, I'll have plenty of L's to give out to everyone as soon as the game comes out.
