YW3 (632,135) opened up in Japan worse than Let's Go did there (664,198), and that was on the 3DS and in a year (2016) that franchise was still doing all right in Japan. I don't see how anyone can possibly think YW4 is even going to be in the same ZIP Code in sales numbers as Sword/Shield.

The Yokai Watch anime was regularly outdrawing Pokemon in TV ratings. That's where most of the talk came from, because those are your biggest drivers of the game sales. That's not the case anymore.
