Wasn't Fortnite originally a wave-based survival/zombie horde game? And building defenses in the process? Hence the title "FORT-nite"? I don't remember it being a Battle Royal game when it first popped up on PSN.

Regardless, this kind of revenue sets a dangerous precedent and will bring about a new wave of corporate confidence in micro-transactions.

I know for a fact that H1Z1 wasn't always a Battle Royal game. And now Call of Duty has fully embraced it. Thank God Rockstar Games shot down the rumor that Red Dead 2's Online mode will have been a Battle Royal.

And here I was starting to enjoy the breath of fresh air from developers finally willing make a game that isn't an FPS. That shit lasted from 2007 (COD4 Modern Warfare & Halo 3 showed devs how much a cash cow FPS' can be) all the way through 2015...

It still is. They just added a standalone F2P version after the success of PUBG and the original game flopping (although it's hardly surprising that a paid game which was advertised as going F2P a year after release didn't sell too well).

Was it really a flop? I remember an article where half a milion people played it on day 1. I mean thats not fortnite numbers but for a game like that its hardly a flop.
