None knows how many trials were used but the MS employees. The 1m number was reported in the games first 48 hours before any reviews went up. There are definitely people that used their trials to play SoT. MS probably wants them to so they can get into the service and buy a subscription later. But saying a lot of people did is just an assumption. 

I‘m even saying most people did...assumption or not and as said before...MS won’t publish sales numbers so that’s all we‘ll get.
