Destiny 2 Review

Campaign: The campaign for Vanilla Destiny was not that great and lots of people were bummed out by the weak campaign and lack of content in the first game. Bungie listened to this criticism and overall they delivered a great campaign in Destiny 2. Not going to spoil anything but the story is that Ghaul and the Red Legion launch an attack on Earth and the guardians are not able to defeat them so a few of them end up escaping. You are one of the few guardians that were not able to escape and you are almost killed because you lose all your powers. Throughout the campaign you must return the light and defeat Ghaul and the Red Legion.

Overall, I enjoyed the campaign, but it started to feel dragged out at the end and some of the campaign missions were not necessary. Also the characters aren't very memorable so I only really cared about two characters.

It took me 11 hours to beat the campaign by myself, but if you play with a group of friends it can be done in 6-7 hours.

8.5/10

Gameplay: The gameplay is still very solid. Whenever you kill a boss or enemy, it feels very rewarding. The game doesn't make you feel too underpowered or too powerful and i think it has a good balance. One thing i did not like is that you don't get your sparrow until you reach level 20 and beat the campaign. The worlds are pretty big, so it might take you a few minutes to get to a public event or to an adventure without a sparrow. I also did not like that they got rid of the levels for enemies.

7.5/10

PvE: The PvE is very similar to the first game. The only major difference is that enemies don't have levels anymore. Also, some bosses in the campaign sorta feel a bit too hard to beat by yourself and i found myself starting over some parts of the campaign 5 times to beat a boss.

8.5/10

PvP: The PvP has been noticeably improved from Destiny 1. In Destiny 1 there were certain type of weapons that always won gunfights, but in Destiny 2 nothing feels overpowed so the balancing is very good. There is also a competitive mode that's similar to search and destroy in Call of Duty. It's a good mode and there is a part of the Destiny community that wants the game to be more competitive, so im glad Bungie added this mode for them. In the future Bungie also has plans to expand tje competitive side of Destiny so that's something nice tO look foward to.

Some of the maps work really well with the game, but there are a handful of maps that don't flow right with certain game modes.

9.5/10

EndGame: Most of the endgame content will come from the expansions, but in the main game there is a good amount of endgame content already. After you beat the campaign you will then have the options to do all the adventures. When you beat certain parts of the campaign A bunch of adventures unlock sowent back to them because I was focused on beating the campaign before doing anything else. There are also a few missions that you can do to unlock all the subclasses for your character. Also, there are 6 strikes and the Nightmare strikes that you could do. There's am option to replay the whole campaign in order to get rare loot.

All end game content takes about 10-15 hours.

8.8/10

Overall: 8.56/10
