The Wii U was underpowered and overpriced. $350 for Xbox 360 hardware. That was one of the biggest problems - it didn't appeal to core gamers because it was too weak and the games were underwhelming, but it didn't appeal to casual gamers because it was too expensive and the tablet was overwhelming to them.

The Switch IMO is the opposite of the Wii U. It appeals to people; had some great games the first year; and has been marketed correctly.

We'll just remember the Wii U as a dark chapter in Nintendo's history lol (think Virtua Boy). And this is coming from someone who thought the Wii was the best console of its generation!
