*facepalm*
I haven't read the thread yet, but damn this is stupid. They are just leaving money on the table. I would probably buy their games, but if they are not available, well then I can't buy them can I?
GameCube
37 retail games total
7 EA games
That is almost 19%. The only company I bought more games from was Nintendo. And that was only 12, so EA did pretty good there in comparison.
Wii
50 retail games
2 EA games
13 new digital games
0 EA games
2 virtual console games
0 EA games
65 total games
2 EA total games
In a generation where I spent a ton more money, EA only accounts for 4% of my retail purchases and only about 3% of all games. Why? Because they mostly bailed on the Wii, and they just showed me I didn't miss them.
Wii U
9 retail games
9 new digital games
0 virtual console games
0 EA games
I have only had a Wii U for about a year, and still have plenty of games I want to buy. Mass Effect is the only game with even a sliver of a chance. Likely not going to happen before I move on. (Also, damn does being a full blown adult really put a damper on game time. )
Switch
After the massive, and now obvious success of the Switch, EA is still taking a wait and see approach? Dumb. Just dumb. If I was a big investor I would be screaming my head off right now. Other developers are already scrambling to catch up (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/10/30/report-japanese-third-parties-unconvinced-of-the-switch-are-now-scrambling.aspx ), which means EA is just going to fall further behind. If you stop courting customers, then they are not going to give a shit about your brand anymore. I sure don't.
Can you imagine if EA took the same wait and see approach with the PS4 or Xbox One? I mean, the PS3 had a bad launch before righting the ship the previous gen and the Xbox One had a lot of negative chatter around its launch this gen. That logic would be just as dumb as still ignoring the Switch, so why not?
