American here and I'm going to throw a thought out that probably not many think of; I feel bad for the royal family! I know "oh but they get all that money and influence blah blah blah." Are you kidding me? These people have cameras shoved in their faces for life (not just during elected terms), ALWAYS have to be engaged in thousands of different organizations/activities, have to travel the globe to see the commonwealth nations (yes I know, travel sounds so much fun, but when you have to when your sick, have to when your just wanting to take a breath, etc. it isn't so fun. When you HAVE to travel period it isn't fun).
They have to hold formal meetings frequently giving advise on governmental issues, all the while attempting to not take any political side. They have the pressure of being the head of a very large church. They don't really get to retire and even when some of them make it to that, they are still doing things.
I know it's got some hollywood in it, but if you want to see how bad the pressure is from being in that role watch "Kings Speech" or "The Queen" on Netflix. I am not envious of these people at all! They are basically slaves that are born into these roles that they have to do or risk destroying the family.
