The problem isn't internet availabilty. For me, the issue is that when the studio shuts down game server, my game will be nothing more than a 60 bucks frisbee. So, at least, the online dependency must be justificable.
Let me just use The Division as an example. Really, I don't see why can't I lay it offline. Ok, dark zones are PvP, but the main map is just a big area with simple missions against AI enemies. The only real player interaction here is that people can join me and help me do the missions. But it really isn't something that should be mandatory.
