I found it's games were inferior to their N64 predecessors more often than not and there wasn't really anything that felt new and fresh, of what I played at least, and interest waned. With it, interest in Nintendo and console gaming as a whole was at a low-point for a couple of years, until Wii's new gameplay concepts and PS3's HD games. |
Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. Coming after the N64, GCN was a real letdown for me; several of their flagship first party franchises nosedived in quality, while the decline and subsequent absence of Rare left a gaping hole. To go from Starfox 64 to Adventures, Mario 64 to Sunshine, and Ocarina of Time to Wind Waker was a bitter draught.
