I agree that could happen, or even more, LT at least. Watching its 1st year will be interesting, since I dunno if the game has that same charm that helped Splatoon sell very well, at least when it comes to Japan (the art style I think appeals more to the west than Japan). Impressions from the test punch have been mostly positive, so maybe it'll sell a lot better.

Splatoon and ARMS are different. Splatoon worked because it appealed to a market that most first/third person shooters ignored. The trend is violent, gritty military shooters. Splatoon is a game about painting term and squids who love fashion. Its weird and colorful, so it fit Japan's taste better.

You have to compare ARMS to fighting games. Most fighting games are overly complicated and lack any modes besides ranked. ARMS has a very simple concept and plenty of modes. That will be the key to its success.

Actually when you phrase it like that, they don't seem all that different either, haha. They're both kinda doing the same thing.
