Silly me. I must have missed the part during the whole Switch launch where the Switch actually does have the capacity to acceptand play 3DS cartridges. Care to point out where that port is on the Switch?

So you think if NDS was not able to play GBA cartridges then GBA Micro would have killed NDS momentum? Alright then.

No, I mean it's kinda hard to say that this is even remotely the same thing, since the inclusion of a GBA port on the DS means that at launch there was absolutely no reason to doubt the idea that the DS was definitely a replacement for the GBA.

Nintendo has repeated refuted people claims and questions as to whether the Switch is replacing the 3DS. They say plainly that it isn't. The lack of game compatibility indicates that the Switch may not be a replacement for the 3DS, the lack of portable franchises (and I mean those that haven't bounced between home console and portable) annouced for the Switch means the Switch may not be a replacement for the 3DS.

All I'm saying is that we don't actually know at this point whether the Switch is going to replace the 3DS. It's merely an assumption that fans are making.
