Yeah, that's true. Further more, I think we've only heard rumors about two seperate devices once or twice, yes? Most things we hear seem to point towards one hybrid console.

A lot rumours are bandwagoning though so watch out, 2 devices under one OS that communicate makes far more sense as then the portable and home factor not only will not hamper eachothers design in anyway but it matches what Iwata said far more. Right now I suspect it's not a hybrid but the homeconsole just has 2 devices and someone not familiar with it may have just happen to have a glance at it with out fully knowing the ins and outs. Rumours of two platforms were around until about mid this year and what sparked those rumours, patents which are much more reliable than most sources.

On handhelds Akeos is right that studios working on handhelds won't know about consoles and so on, for example the is no point giving a DK for the HC when the studio in question has never done a console game.

@Bolded: But wouldn't it make sense for them to be able to choose which platform they work on? Nintendo can't just decide if you're gonna make portable games or not, can they? I'm pretty sure Capcom would like to develop a Monster Hunter game for Nintendo's HH, but if they got a HC dev kit instead... Well, then they wouldn't make a MH game for it, would they? Shouldn't Nintendo be asking, "So, you want the home console dev kit, or the portable dev kit?"

As of right now, I'm kinda devided. I'm not sure if this will be two destinct devices, one home console with a controller similar to Wii U's gamepad which you can take with you and play on, and one portable console with a lot more features (and maybe even Internet access?) compared to the HC's gamepad. Or if it's all just one hybrid device.

I found those leaked patents really intruiging, especially the possibility to connect your HC and HH to boost the power. Or linking two HC to boost the power. I saw a lot of posibilities in those patents!
