Why do people keep saying they are different audiences? That is just silly.

How many gamers do you know that don't own a smartphone?

Fact is, Sony will want a ton of free advertising from the various media outlets in the world. Each of these media outlets only have so much time / space they are going to put towards tech news. Which one is the average JoeBob going to see at primetime on 9/7 and 9/8? The iPhone 7.

Due to Apple's event, the only 'market' that will even know that there is a new PS4 will be those that already know one is coming. However, had Apple's event been during a different month, it likely would have lead all mass media tech news for those couple days.

I think that is big.

My sources tell me that everyone interested in the PS4 Neo are Android users who don't give a crap about the new iPhone.

Seriously, though, WW which do you think is going to gain more attention?  A console that has captured 55%+ of the WW console market? Or a phone that has captured about 15% of the WW phone market?  Sure, in the US and a few other countries the Apple announcement will be big and take up some of the headlines, but sites will make sure to keep both near the top of their front pages.  Everywhere else in the world, the PS4 will be shown more interest.

The one that sells more. Are you seriously arguing that PS4 news has more impact in "everywhere else in the world" than Apple and its iphone?!

"

Apple sold 51.2 million iPhones and 10.3 million iPads in the first three months of 2016"

They sold more iphones in three months than the PS4 did since release. Many more.

Do gamers really just have an odd view on their favorite hobby? This thread contains posts that seem just off.
