Run Marahton Results:
Welcome back sports fans, the fourth event of the Pokémon Olympics the Run Marathon is now about to begin. Unlike the last 3 events we’ve had marathons are completely different. While speed is very important to them the main factor is being able to pace yourself and knowing your endurance level. The Athletes are now in position. Representing team Generation 1, we have Arcanine and Rapidash! Representing team Generation 2 we have Furret and Umbreon! Representing team Generation 3 we have Manetric and Vigoroth! Representing team Generation 4 we have, Lucario and Luxray! Representing team Generation 5 we have Zoroark and Keldeo! Representing team Generation 6 we have Gogoat and Heliolisk.
On your mark! Get set! Bang! The athletes are off! Quickly taking the lead was Manetric followed by Keldeo and Zoroark with Arcanine and Rapidash fairly close behind them. Furret and Umbreon were off to terrible starts with umbreon starting dead last, however this was a marathon and not a sprint so they had plenty of time to catch up. As the athletes got into their stride Zoroark and Arcanine passed Manetric and were running side by side for the lead. Behind them were Rapidash, Manetric and Gogoat who were all running side by side, Lucario and Keldeo were also running side by side next to each other. Umbreon who was still in the back had now caught up to its partner and was proceeding to increase its pace.
Arcanine increased its pace quickly leaving Zoroark behind but he wasn’t the only one increasing his pace. Gogoat was right behind him and was Rapidash using its long legs to keep close to the top 2 competitors. Arcanine was now at a steady pace and was slowly extending its lead over gogoat who was doing the same to Rapidash however Gogoat began moving faster and began moving at a higher pace than Arcanine slowly closing the gap between the two of them with Rapidash in a steady third. The gap was growing between these 3 leaders and the other athletes. Vigoroth was now using its insane endurance and was now facing off with Lucario and Manetric who vying for the fourth place spot. Manetric had started off very strong but wasn’t able to keep up its initial burst of speed. Vigoroth started off slow but then began to move faster to catch up while Lucario had been running a fairly steady pace from the start. All 3 of these competitors were running together even though it looked like at any moment Vigoroth and Lucario would leave manetric behind due to how they had caught up on the Pokémon. Behind them was Zoroark who was slipping further and further back after a good start followed by Umbreon and Keldeo. Umbreon had now been slowing catching up and passing the competitors in the back however his partner, furret was stuck bringing up the rear though it was starting to catch up to Heliolisk who was already tired.
Arcanine was running alone in front, or so he thought until he saw Gogoat right next to him. The shock on arcanine’s face was reflected on to his performance as he stumbled allowing Gogoat to easily go ahead and begin to build a distance between them. This is exactly what Gogoat wanted as in a race of pure speed that would happen for the line, arcanine would surely be tough to beat if he was ahead. Raapidash was now in a completely steady 3rd. No one was close behind him and the two leaders while they were still in his sights were also fairly far ahead. The race for 4th was still the same however. Manetric increased its pace and was now running on par with the other 2 and maintaining a slight lead over them. Vigoroth and Lucario were both neck and neck and Manetric was jumbled up with them as they ran trying to snag the 4th place position. Umbreon had now caught up to and passed zoroark and now had its eyes on the three Pokémon fighting for 4th place. Zoroark was right behind him but slipping back further and further. Keldeo Luxray followed with Heliolisk and Furrent bringing up the rear with furret continuing to close the gap between them.
Gogoat was running away with the competition and Arcanine was still trying to catch its stride. It was now back at its pace but the stumble had left him a good distance away from gogoat. Rapidash continued well in third. Gogoat however still continued to extend his lead until Arcanine stepped it up again and began closing the gap. Manetric had now increased its speed and had taken its 4th place position back to a comfortable place. Lucario continued to run steady and was in 5th as Vigoroth suffered a major drop back. This was exactly what Umbreon was waiting on as it quickly passed Vigoroth and took 6th place. Luxray was also gaining on Vigoroth but that was because he and Keldeo were racing hard against each other for the final event point spot. Zoroark was falling behind even more now as he was in 10th now right behind the two. With Heliolisk and Furret now neck and neck in the back.
The Race had now entered its final stage. Gogoat was sprinting as hard as he could to the line he was first but he knew he needed to go harder because he kept hearing the steps of Arcanine who had now come running as hard as he could closing the gap between them. Gogoat was sweating but kept pushing Arcanine was definitely faster but he had more endurance and he had used that to get ahead early on right now he just needed to hold him off a tiny bit longer until he had crossed the line. Arcanine knew this and stepped it up even more! The two Pokémon were almost neck and neck and the line was right there. Arcanine was closing the gap more and more sprinting until he reached his limit which allowed gogoat to snag 1st place forcing him to settle for 2nd. Rapidash came up not too far behind them sprinting to the line and easily picked up the 3rd position. Manetric who had increased his lead now began sprinting towards the line. Lucario was sprinting as well to attempt to catch up and behind him was umbreon sprinting hoping to catch him as well, however, Manetric easily was the fastest and didn’t give Lucario a chance to catch up and took the 4th spot. Lucario knowing Umbreon was behind him pushed himself harder and took the 5th spot with Umbreon who had started off in 11th taking the 6th spot.
Vigoroth was running as hard as he could and he had no choice as right on his tail was Keldeo and Luxray! If both Pokémon passed him he wouldn’t gain any event points for his team and he wanted to ensure that his team who was currently leading in every category continued to lead in event points. Luxray pushed harder and was now neck and neck with Vigoroth and Keldeo was simply a small distance behind them two of them as they crossed the line. Vigoroth had managed to have one last spurt however it wasn't enough. Luxray unleashed all of its speed and left Vigoroth behind right before the line and Keldeo wasn't done yet Keldeo also did the same and managed to edge out Vigoroth for the 8th place. It was something gen 5 had never done before, it was their first event point! Zoroark came in 10th and the first thing he did was run forward and hug Keldeo. They were finally on the board.
The last two competitors were neck and neck as they approached the line however, it had already been some time since the previous competitors had crossed. Furret had managed to pass Heliolisk however they were both neck and neck. It was very close but furret managed to beat heliolisk right at the end.
