Didn't he also say that they weren't releasing any new handhelds any time soon, about 8-12 months before the 3DS released? These are mere words and if things don't improve significantly, there is no reason not to replace the Wii U within, say, 2016, especially if their plans of tandem software development for two simultaneous platforms are to come to fruition.
