Unfortunately that seems unlikely to explain everything. The drops seem pretty regular, following trends from previous consoles, and there's no real games (aside from maybe one) which are worth upgrading to a PS4 in Japan to.
Maybe a small, small portion is stock related, but there's something far more simple and believable to blame here: Japan isn't all that interested in the PS4 right now, and I don't think that surprises an awful lot of people. Sure we can see how things go in the long run, but for how long can we keep on blaming the stock I wonder?
