Every single Pokemon fan makes the same comment every release. It's the same boring storyline, yet people just completely ignore that. They completely ignore how brain dead easy the single player experience is.

If it wasn't Pokemon it wouldn't have scored as high as it did. Ni No Kuni even scored high despite being an even bigger pos game because the journalists compared it to Pokemon and it's co developed by Studio Ghibli. Too much bias put into all these ratings.

Pokemon´s game mechanics are actually good and fun in contrast to the godawful Pokemon-lite in Ni No Kuni.

There is more to a JRPG than story.

I said Ni No Kuni was an even bigger pos so yeah, means that Pokemon is better.

And obviously there's more to an RPG than story.  Gameplay takes precedence on most RPGs.  Read my review, despite Pokemon having some actual deep gameplay, the layout of the games entire single player(what I meant by 20 hour story,) requires  no use of that gameplay.  When you could solo every battle in a gym with a Pokemon that isn't even strong against the enemies in that gym, something is wrong. Sure, you could try and use the games strategy mechanics, but what's the point in one shotting an enemy or one shotting them because the enemy is weak against your Pokemon's attack or some really good set up?

With any video game you take the good with the bad.  You have to make your way through 20 hours of single player before really getting into the meat of the game, the pvp.  Then the pvp takes a few hours making a good party unless you want to lose.  So, it gets good but you have to put around 20-25 hours before that.  It's like saying there's an expensive diamond in that huge pond full of shit and the only way to get it is swim around and find it.
