1. Release AAA games at launch and first year. Wii had a flagship Metroid, Mario, and Zelda game year 1 - Wii U doesn't even have one officially announced yet after more than a year. Mario Kart 8 is the first major game, and it is more than a year and a half after launch.

2. Better marketing. Nintendo is doing a terrible job at showing their upcoming software. They have talked about Zelda U and the upcoming Monolithsoft game, but have not given any real information, and only two brief videos of X. With Nintendo Direct, I would really like to know more about games I want in the consoles lifetime rather than games that should be advertised in commercials and on gaming websites instead.

Do these two things and then I think Nintendo could vastly improve their success with their next console, or even Wii U.

Las for third parties - I don't think Nintendo should worry about them. Nintendo has the potential to dwarf the success of all third party console developers combined. If a third party brand looks like it is going to be popular enough, Nintendo needs to either A. Exceed it, or B. Buy it.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
