So while at work(Gamestop) I tend to get the same questions, which in turn makes me ask customers an ajoined one.

"So man, which one are you getting, PS4 or XbOne?"

My response is always the same, "PS4"

They follow up with the question "I am hearing this a lot. Why?"

Naturally I start to explain why: Because I enjoy Sony's plethera of 1st Party Exclusives, Because it will be $100 Cheaper. Because it is the technically more powerful system, and easier to develop for this time around. Because most games will be multiplat on both console so I will rarely if ever feel like I am missing out. Because PS+ gives me free games monthly so I never am at a loss about what to play(too much honestly). Because Sony consoles are usually built to last; figuratively and literally.

"Oh man. I've heard that PS is good......I think I will stick with Xbox tho"

So my inquisitive mind cannot help but inquire as to his/her reasoning. "Why might I ask?"

and without fail...... some varient of this will be the answer.....

"Because thats what my friends are getting."

So I press it further, "And Why are 'they' choosing it?"

"Because thats what they got las time."

Press a bit harder, "And why was that?"

"Because thats what all my friends had."

.........................>_>...................<_<..............

This conversation repeats itself a few times a day everytime I work. As a disclaimer, no one really HAS to justify their decisions on there purchase to me. To each his own and all that. I just personally find this circular logic baffling to say the least. If the strongest argument you can give to yourself as to why to buy something is My friends got it>>>thats what they had last time>>>>because all my friends had it then maybe you should really reassess that.

There are so many much more reasonable answers. You enjoy MS's 1st/2nd Party such as Halo and cannot live without it. Fine! You are excited for TV connectivity coming to the Xbone. Thats cool too! You really hate PS controller set up. Even that works.

Yet the bandwagoning response makes my stomach turn. I would firstly NEVER decide on what to buy based simply on what my friends are getting. Most of my friends are not analytical shoppers like I am. I research the holy hell out of a product before ever laying down a penny. The more expensive it is, the more research I make before making a rash decision.

Even if you were to look at PS2 era, I chose PS2 for a particular reason. Sure, Xbox and Gamecube(supposedly) were more powerful spec wise. Yet PS2 was the only place to get most of my gaming fixes. FF, MGS, Dark Cloud, DMC, etc. There was no where for me to go where I could get these experiences other than the PS2.

When so many chose 360 over PS3, they might of had some valid reasoning. It was a lot cheaper, and came out a whole year before PS3. It had a robust Online where Sony struggled to just get it up and running. At the start it also had all the exclusives and most games became multiplat meaning you no longer needed a PS system to play them.

Now its totally different, Tables have been turned and yet.....people begrudgingly choose to ignore it.I just think where these two next gen consoles are concerned its a no brainer. Unless you are invested in MS IPs and Achievements, prefer it's controller THAT much why get an XBOne? Cheaper, most of the same games but more highly rated exclusives, more powerful specs, doesn't have a track record as bad as RROD, and will have 90% of the same OS features. You would have to be blind to not see which is the better bargain here.
