- Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sport Resort but also all the Just Dance annual iterrations, Zumba Fitness, Kinect games... all sold or keep selling really well even in a very recent past.

Most casual gamers have no brand loyality. So...

- casual sport/fitness gamers who cared about graphics probably have moved on to Sports Champions and Kinect Sports a while ago

- casual sport/fitness gamers who don't care about graphics will stay with their Wii for some years. If they finally decide to upgrade, they have several options and 360+Kinect is much cheaper than a WiiU

So I guess AC NL, Tomodatchi 3DS and future MK games are doomed too then... Except they are not.

Are these easily replaceable sport, fitness or dance games with no story like Wii/Kinect Sports, Wii/Zumba Fit or Just Dance?

Mario Kart is, yes. I also don't think anyone buys AC for its "story" really, it's just more of the same too.

I thought a strong point for the Animal Crossing series are the cute characters with their spleens and funny back stories, witty dialogs and amusing situations... similar to the success of The Sims.

Mario Kart appeales with well known characters of all strong Nintendo franchises (Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Peach...)

Wii Sports has neither of it, only boring Miis and no story.
