Free housing and free food my ass, bro. Chow Hall meals/ MREs and barracks living are both deducted from our salary. Sure, there's BAH, but you need to either be a certain pay grade (depends on your MOS), or you need a dependent. That only covers the price of the house itself. You still need to pay gas, water, electric, etc., as well other cost of living (plus you lose Chow Hall meals). You didn't talk to your higher ups much, did you? lol
