Well, as a nation the USA is still behind. It is only since the last SCOTUS ruling that the Federal Government started recognizing marriages that happened in the states where it is legal.
With the massive lawsuit going on all over the country, I doubt it will take more than 5ish years. Espically as people realize that is has nothing to do with their Churches, but is a Civil Rights issue.
Not long now, but how embarassing if both Costa Rica and Columbia gain on civil rights issues over the USA.
