Sony has confirmed that the digital rights management of PlayStation 4 software will be up to third-party publishers. Speaking on GTTV, Sony's Jack Tretton stated, "The DRM decision for third-party games will be up to publishers."

A bit of a blow, no? Looks like things aren't quite so clean-cut as we thought. I stress also that, by the sounds of it right now at least, it will be no different to the system currently in place for the PS3. But with the Xbone having it as the norm, I personally expect more publishers will embrace the concept.
