The only two complains I have about this port is:
1. There are no sub quests. But if you cut the tail, brake horns and others, you get more rewards. That hasn't changed, it is just there is nothing telling you that you accomplish that, or that you can finish the qauest by completing the sub quest.
2. The difficulty curve has been downgraded until you get to G-Rank quests.

I can't blame Capcom because of the easier quests in the beginning of the game, there are a lot of reviewers that always complain about this game, and they consequently push away new comers. Capcom just leverage that a little bit, you realize they are easier because most of the monster hunter gamers are already seasoned hunters, but to new comers they should be just right.
The port part, yes, Capcom said they were straight from the 3DS, why is that news to you my friend? They polished the Wii U a little bit just to make it 1080p. There are more particles effects on Ultimate that on Tri, that gave the version a nice touch. Water and hot air effects are nice to my eyes, I never appreciate them on Wii. I give Capcom a go with this port, because they were looking to attract more people, and the only way to do it is mainstreaming the game, in that sense MH 3Ultimate still is a Monster Hunter game. Also, I think they ported the game because console versions do better than portable ones, I bought both and there is no difference between them. They look just right to me.
I want one designed from the ground up to Wii U, then I will critique the graphics if I have to. But them this games doesn't need to run on Unreal Engine or something else, the gameplay is the main focus of the game completely shadowing any graphics. It is one of those ageless games.
