Sorry I'm late!
My #50 is The Deer Hunter. This is one of the most powerful and haunting war movies ever made, a story about how the Vietnam War affects small town people after the fact. Great performances by DeNiro, Streep, and especially Christopher Walken, who won an Oscar for his performance.
My #49 is Annie Hall. A layered, nuanced, self-referential comedy, Annie Hall is Woody Allen's best movie -- a production he hasn't topped in over 30 years. It's funny, it's satirical, it's touching, and it's devastatingly honest about love.
I think I'm all caught up...is #48 tomorrow, spurge?
