Crytek Exec Says Next-Gen requires 8GB RAM

Is 8GB of cheap DDR3 + a fat pool of eDRAM (say 64-128MB) really all that expensive these days?

I can pick up 8GB of RAM off the shelf for $40, likely Sony/MS would get that at a per unit price of $15-$20 or less for next fall.

8GB of GDDR5 is unfeasible though.
