Good thread, DS :)

It's all kind of a mystery, but I think the Wii U is doing fairly well. I expect it to be more of a slow burn console, quite unlike the meteoric rise of Wii. I think Nintendo built the Wii U to last for a while.

The sales in Japan are looking very good for Nintendo, and I think sales will start to pick up in N. America. As far as Europe goes, I have no idea. I'm unsure how economic problems are affecting consumer confidence. Maybe the rest of the 8th generation systems will struggle in Europe also?

Somewhat worrying is the fact that Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros., and ZombiU are selling well, but nothing else is. Are people balking because the games are already available on previous-generation systems? Or do Wii U owners simply have no interest in games like Darksiders, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect? I think the jury is still out on this.

I think the Wii U has the potential to become Nintendo's second best console, not in terms of sales but in terms of quality. The first-party software will arrive, that much is sure, plus some cool third-party exclusives are already on the way. If Nintendo pushes the limits of the Wii U hardware with its first-party games (Pikmin 3 looks absolutely gorgeous), and wins support from Japanese developers, and gets enough (not all) of the big third-party games it will do very well.

Thanks Veknoid :D much appreciated ^^

I guess we have to wait for the releases of PS720 to see what kind of situation EU is in... Maybe they're not too keen on the Wii U, or it's the economic that doesn't allow for expensive electronics.. Perhaps a more ambitious and smarter person could dig up some sales of TV's in the Eu so we have something to compare to?

I actually do think that it's the fact that's it's all old ports. I stopped by my local game shop here in Sweden a few days ago, and BLOPS2 were the 2nd most sold title for the Wii U - only bested by NintedoLand (or maybe it was NSMBU?). And ZombiU is doing really well for a brand new IP on a brand new console, and I think that shows that Wii U gamers DO enjoy more "mature" titles. That's almost as mature as you can go, in a sense :p

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
