I would actually agree with this kind of acquisition; they could fill a void Nintendo has had empty since Rare left.

that's a void that no one will fill.

Although Retro has helped ease the pain.

aye retro studios are really amazing but when microsoft took rare from nintendo they destroyed Rare and Done some pretty bad damage to the big N forever. the Rare name is on Kinect Adventures and Kinect Sports :s

No, the people that sold Rare destroyed Rare. Bear in mind Rare didn't have the ability to create games that appeal to the Xbox audience (original and 360). Casual games sell best on Nintendo platforms. The very same games Rare put on MS platforms would have been more successful on the Wii.

Rare has nothing to do with Kinect Adventures. Kinect Sports has sold quite well and are geneinely great motion party games.

The likes of Killer Instinct/ perfect dark and even their platformers on the N64 of DK64 and Conkers bad fur day were by no means casual games, Rare were capable of so much more than that goldeneye was their work... to go from that to Kinect sports/Kinect sports season 2 and the upcoming Kinect sports season 3 is fairly sad to see.

There hasn't been a KI, but there was a Perfect Dark on the 360. Not a very good game.

I won't argue whether or not DK64 and Conker are casual games. But I know platformers like those generally sell better to casual gamers. I'm pretty sure platformers have sold better on N64, Gamecube, and Wii than Xbox and Xbox 360.

I don't think its sad that they've had great success with Kinect Sports. I think its more sad when people get fired and the studio disappears. Maybe Rare will surprise us with something down the road. We'll just have to wait and see.
