Correct me if I am wrong, but there was no demo for BF3, it was actually a beta, which is different from a demo.

You are right but people just call it a demo since we download it from demo section of our respective xbox/psn stores. People were raging on internet and gaming websites were trying to do the PR work for the developer saying it is not demo. Games were taking the bugs in the beta as representation of how the final product is going to be as the final game was just week or two away.
