You know what? it may already be bigger than console games. People on these forums and in the wider industry press conveniently discount certain genres and payment models simply becuase they're not traditional based games with traditional revenue streams. Alternatively they're not the pre-conceived notion of a PC game because they don't have the uber graphicsand don't require relatively expensive hardware.

Think of all the casual, social, facebook, F2P models, browser-based, MMO and Indie games on the PC on top of the pre-conceived notions of traditional "PC gaming" and you'll probably find more people playing PC games than console games and similar total revenue to boot.
