This is a double-edged sword, but the article clearly only shows one side of the coin...

The pros are clear. 1) Bridging the obviously ginormous (I don't think that word describes it well enough) DS community to the 3DS community (via backwards compatibility and concurrent platform support), Nintendo is solidifying the line, using the strength of the predecessor to encrust the successor. 2) Grants Nintendo the irresistible right to develop B/W 2 with 2D DS-age graphics, and solidify the B/W sub-series via graphical parity.
