i agree in that good/bad tatse is meaningless
The shining is a scary movies for me,its one of the few films if i watch alone in the house,i start to think what was that noise or something like that,a good psycho chiller

i'm pretty easily pleased when it comes to movies and you should watch movies more than once on most occasions which most of us do over time no doubt as expectations and mood can often affect the way you feel about it
i give Gladiator as an example the first time i saw it i think i must have been in elitist mode becasue i didn't think much of it but really it is quite an impressive movie a modern type epic which we really don't get much of these days and phoniex,crowe and nielsen are pretty good in gladiator,i'd say its a pretty enjoyable ride and has oliver reed too
mel brooks is a legend doesn't mean you have to like his films though and harvy korman and madeline kahn are awsome comic actors and usually cast in his films
i like high anxiety,young frankenstein,history of the world,the producers not sure most people would say they are good films though
