NPD data is probably some weeks old though, but still interesting. Impressive how the Playstations have lost ground in traditional Sony markets (most of LA and Brazil). Or... have they? |
These numbers are only to the end of July. It's actually:
DS - 6,061,991 (12.56%)
Wii - 4,516,954 (13.16%)
360 - 3,183,142 (13.16%)
PS3 - 1,678,704 (11.48%)
PSP - 2,062,380 (10.53%)
And it's basically been pretty firmly established that we're undertracking the PS3 in Canada and Latin America based on PES 2010 and God of War 3 sales. Based on ioi's post here:

Our Latin American install base stands at around 625k-650k right now, which through process of elimination puts Canada at just over 1 million. But God of War 3 has sold over 250k in Canada. There's NO WAY a single player only game can achieve more than a 25% or maybe even close to 30% attach ratio. Even MW2 hasn't managed that. Based on Brazilian sales GOW3 is somewhere around 15%-20% attach ratio and PES 2010 is likely in the 20%-25% range. :edit: Something else interesting to note, Sony has stated that they expect GT5 to perform even better in Latin America than GOW3 (~100k currently). This will be the first GT game officially released in South America. What do you think it could do in LA lifetime? 200k? 300k?
