I voted "too scared to comment so... voting and leaving", but in all seriousness, I agree with xxmob above. The only way to stop flamebaiting and personal attacks is to make it abundantly clear that neither behavior will be tolerated in any way, shape, or form. Especially on a site that is basically geared toward giving fanboys hard evidence to support their claims. *hides from ioi*
Now I obviously can't see what's going on behind the scenes, I have never been "moderated", and I have no way to know if people are being unjustly banned. But the fact remains that the level of conversation on this site is far, FAR more mature than that on literally any forum I have ever visited
Considering this site's content (and truly meaning no offense to ioi and the staff), achieving such a mature level of discourse is a monumental achievement IMHO.
