The official release for the next-in-line saviour of Sony's game machine is right around the corner, and the hype for Killzone 2, at least on these boards and more than likely most other Playstation-centric websites, seems simply outta control. Overblown would be an understatement, although I don't feel it's disproportionate, or unreasonable, when the troubles of Sony and the underwhelming reality of the PS3 are used as the backdrop. Before the fanboys get up in arms and call for jihad on the OP, the comment above isn't meant to diminish what the PS3 is, but moreover, what it hasn't become. At least not yet.

From all the screenshots and agravatingly rough videos I've caught on this old, out of date computer, Killzone 2 looks to be an amazingly polished, superbly crafted technical achievment in console gaming. If I had the extra money, a PS3 and this game would certainly be on my 'to do' list. Even though 99 percent of the gaming world has yet play it, I'm sure the early judgements of excellence are mostly deserved. But, what bothers me about all the excess hype and gushing reviews spilling out perfect 10's is this; there's no Co-op.

I don't care how desperate PS3 fans have become for the promise of Sony's machine to finally, and inarguably, materialize and set itself apart from the 360, it would be nice to see a little temperance, a smattering of restraint, when it comes to proclaiming this game a 'halo killer'. No matter how well the game plays- online or off- multiplayer or single player, without co-op I don't see how anyone could rate this game a 10. Everything about this generation centers on the 'community' aspect of gaming. Any major release that takes itself seriously, at least from Microsoft and Sony (as normal, the Wii gets exlcuded...it's the big wheel on the Big Wheel and needn't concern itself with what the others do) should include every componant that the online gaming community expects. Without co-op, I just feel Killzone 2 automatically puts itself out of the race. You don't really hear anyone mention it on the boards, the developers avoid talking about.. it's like the dirty little secret no one wants to be reminded of.

So, I know you PS3 guys are pumped for this game, as you should be.. looks amazing, but, doesn't the fact of no co-op piss any of you off.... or would you rather not talk about it.
