This is gonna sound a little trollish, but I feel it is what the thread is talking about, so I am sorry if anyone is offended.

SE is so stupid for selling out to Microsoft for all of those games. Microsoft should be ashamed to steal those games, not for personal financial gain or establishment of the 360 in Japan, (because that is impossible)

but instead to prevent the PS3 from having a single JRPG, because Microsoft knows that if Sony were to share these games with the 360, then they would have sold 4 or 5 times the amount they did.

I understand how business works, but this type of hardball from Microsoft, and Selling out from SE is really hard to stomach for me.

Microsoft essentially bought the "failure" of Square Enix's '08 releases.

And that IS why their 2008 was not as great as it could have been.

Think about it; arguably the largest Japanese developer releasing their entire 08 lineup for an American console which barely sells units or moves software for long periods of time in Japan?

- That is idiocy, no matter how you look at it.

I just wonder how big the exclusivity buyouts must have been.

It doesn't sound trollish, but it doesn't sound well thought out, either. I'm always confused by how many people gnash their teeth at Square-Enix for "selling out to Microsoft" and making "all these exclusives" for them. They've released zero to date unless we count The Last Remnant, which is eventually headed to PS3. Infinite Undiscovery was Microsoft's baby, Star Ocean doesn't come out until next year (and may come out for PS3 as well), and Final Fantasy XIII is the one that broke the internetz but it's still multiplat, so... I'll be fucked if I can figure out how Microsoft is to blame for S-E having a bad year.
