Forums - Sony - I agree with IGN NA review of MAG

The UK review was based off the beta and had absolutely no points but the NA IGN review had a lot of good points.

First the imbalancing

Sver maps are too, close up and squeezed together with obstacles (roadbocks, cars, trucks, trash cans, crates, rocks, etc.) making it had to push through. in acquisition for example i stole a transport vehicle and every turn i took put me in a dead end i couldnt take any alternative routes to avoid some of the bunkers still up because any route outside a main is blocked off by some type of object (remind you getting through a main route is a pain in the a** too).

Raven and Valor maps in the other hand are spread out and have alot of opennings (raven has more) there's so many alternative routes you can take to approach an objective. i stole a transport vehicle from a Raven base and drove that sh*t out avoiding all of their bunkers through alternative routes.

Then there's the restrictions. i find myself saying the bunkers for valor are so useless (especially when they [opposing faction] park their tanks infront of it) cause of the damn sandbags it's hard to shoot the turrette's rocket at them without it blowing up on the sandbags, then we cant even shoot at the opposing faction if they are out of view cause of again the sandbags (remind you Sver does not have this restriction).

Note: Sver players do not cry to me about your maps being balance, i seen Sver's maps through the eyes of a sver player (my brother) and he himself agreed when i brought this up to him when i was watching him play. it's also obvious too, reviewers and the other factions.

Just like IGN i find myself noticing that there might be an imbalancing of gear when it comes to Sver as well. I have 120% life and Heavy armor many times i find myself shooting 30 dead on rounds at a Sver player and THEY DO NOT DIE they in the other hand turn around empty 10-15 shots in me and i die. i also notice from observation (if anyone else did please state) but headshots are even easier for Sver as i find myself being headhshot killed by a Sver aiming below my damn waist! this is indeed frustrating to even a player like myself (i do not in anyway suck in this game or any other shooter i play) and can just imagine the casual or the nonhardcore putting this game down for good if Zipper continues to not listen to people (since the beta) complain about sver imbalancement.

Now the repetition

This game does get repetitive and my advice to Zipper would be implementing day and night rotations, adding weather elements (snow, rain, (dustbowls/clouds for Sver) to add life into the shadow war, modes, maps, etc..

Easy experience

Medics (just like in resistance 2) gather to much experience making it hard for people to become MVP or make it 1st - 3rd place (remind you, you need this because in order to get ribbons and medals you need to be MVP 25 times etc. and eventually get a trophy when you collect all ribbons and medals). i think zipper needs to cut back on the exp medics make in all honesty (just like insomniac did for R2). i can get 300 - 500 points killing and accomplishing objectives but no thats not good enough when the medics are getting 500-1000 exp (i witness Sver medics get an average of 1000-1600 exp). it just kills the experience when you can reach the level cap in 1-2 weeks it just makes things too easy. im also sure zipper added trophies for reaching level 60 with each faction as replayability incentive to ensure people play for quite some time.

Hit and damage detection

i, at times, find myself shooting at casper, no matter how many times i insert bullets in someone it doesnt register therefor they do not die even if it indicates they are being shot at. then there's the times im shooting at someone dead on and there's no indicaton they are being shot and you guess it means no damage is being done to them and they kill me. now this does happen rarely but it is frustrating no doubt.

I will like to end by saying there are other stuff i agree with that was said but i want to keep this short lol. Dont get me wrong i do love this game been playing it since the second beta phase, bought it before launch, got my pre-order bonuses, do not suck in anyway in this game, im a teamplayer, but these problems even though small in the eyes of others can turn people off.

Around the Network
