Forums - Sales Discussion - Namco Bandai figures: Ben 10 outsells all and Wii is the top performer.

And yet, they haven't got anything else coming up for the Wii.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Business as usual.

Namco really missed out on porting opportunities with Wii this year, Tekken 6 and Soulcalibur BD both should've had Wii SKUs day-and-date with the PSP versions.  Hell, the T6 producer even teased a Wii version earlier in the year.  WTF happened? :/

That's what happens when you actually advertise your Wii games and don't whine about them.  You *shock* make money on the Wii.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Like I said in my thread about 3rd parties having made up their mind, it's already done and it's too late in the gen for them to change their minds, even if it means big losses, like what we are seeing.

Hopefully only the smartest devs remain alive when next gen arrives, so indsutry will be in much better shape.

I couldn't agree more.  I'm eager to see the fall of EA and T2 especially...

The industry could use an image change. EA and T2 will not be missed, at least by me :P

With all respect to the Wii crowd, Namco really don't have much to show for any console that's noteworth. Tekken 6 was pretty much their only noteworthy title in the whole of the year, and off the top of my head the only game i can think they have next year is... snigger... Dead to Rights Retribution. Do they seriously think that's not gonna bomb?

Capcom, SEGA, Konami, Square Enix have all seen the market shift and know that for them to survive they need to push out bigger named franchises and get them to have a huge western appeal. Namco have just stalled, and until they step up they're not going to turn things around.

Another question, after about everything they've done on PSP in recent memory has flopped... why is it getting an exclusive new Ace Combat? Why not do that game on Wii or bump it up to 360/PS3?

Well I can't imagine a PSP game costs a lot to develop, they probably figured they could make a run at profit in the long run if a PSP version of a game sold near a half million. But with recent PSP game sales that seems kinda hard, no? Sony must have given them some incentive with Tekken and Soul Calibur on PSP (Kratos anyone?) so they figured it would do better. Plus PSP Go is most likely good profit if they can get someone to download the digital version.

Anyways I think It's more apparent that most companies just don't know how to manage their money well. Konami had good profit last year despite making many HD games, and THQ had a profit albeit very small. I'd imagine if Tales of Vesperia was released WW it would have also given Namco some more money in their pocket.

Either way, look at past Tekken sales and I bet Namco was expecting Tekken to do a lot better. But It's their own fault because they didn't hype it enough and the game (imho) wasn't leaps and bounds better then Tekken 5. It Felt like Tekken 5 to me with more prettier graphics and laggy online (at launch anyways.)

It's just that simple.
